15mg might not cut it so id go with 30mg.

the first time i took 15 it knocked me on my ass asleep for 10 hours. however if your WDing 30 is a solid dose to put you to sleep. prepare for intense dreams and 9+hours of shut eye.

^I’d start with 15mg but don’t be afraid to jump to 30mg if 15 doesn’t work for you.

Hope you feel better.

You people obviously know nothing about Mirtazapine.

At higher doses, it acts more on the norepinephrine receptors and has less of a sedating effect. Higher doses make you feel fidgety.

Do NOT take more than 15mg if you want to use it for sleep. Lower doses are better. I can take as little as 5mg (a tiny chunk off of a 30mg pill) to feel sedated.

yeah i read that up thanks, and 15mg worked a treat 🙂

AfterGlow, I guess I didn’t know. Thanks for the heads up 🙂

Good to hear you got some sleep bnb 🙂

afterglow is this from personal experience? because ive been taking mirtazapine for 2 years now and 30+ mg knocks me out within 20 minutes, for over 9 hours. sure different effects show their face at higher doses, but it doesnt mean that the most potent anti histamine on the market (remeron) doesnt stop being an anti histamine. along with its antagonism on 5ht receptors. its still going to make you sleep….regardless of NE

AfterGlow

Yes, this is from personal experience. It is also what my psychiatrist told me. When I was feeling too drowsy from 15 mg mirtazapine, my psych up’d the dose to 30mg to mediate the sedating effect. And it worked. I was on 15mg for 1 year and then 30mg for another year.

I totally agree. I used to be on remeron aswell, and I could take 45mg and still feel the sedating effects. Sounds a bit to me like you are the one who knows nothing about mirtazapine and jumps to conclusions as soon as you hear the word ‘norepinephrine’. ‘oh, that must mean the sedating effects are gone and it will now make you feel like you are on meth’ lol 😉

30mg isn’t too high of a dose for the sedating effects to start going away. A few months ago I was having sleep problems so I took 15mg and felt nothing. Now I have a tolerance to all kinds of sedating sleep meds so I took 30mg and it worked wonders. Its anti-depressant effects don’t really kick in until your taking doses higher than 30mg.

I have some 15mg Mirtazapine’s laying around and I sometimes use them as a sedative. First time I took 15mg and I found that to be way too much, had the trippiest sleep and I kept waking up tripping and stuff. Now I take half or sometimes a quarter of a 15mg tablet and I’m out for a good 10 hours. Nice peaceful sleep too.

I would stay low, half a 15mg tab and work your way up.

My psychiatrist told me that Mirtazapine’s sedating effects are more noticeable in lower doses and said that 7.5mg should work the best for sleep.

30mg may also make you sedated but to achieve maximum sedation you want to dose lower due to as AG said, the increased norepinephrine activity.

ive read 15-30mg are the doses perscribed for sleep. once it starts getting over 30mg it gets less sedating.

theres a difference between taking it for sleep when your not all stimulated and taking it for sleep when you are all stimulated. atleast for me. with very little tolerance, i have to take more than 15mg to put me to sleep if i took amphetamines earlier in the day.
